Art of Non-Conformity Book Tour: Toronto Event Photography

I’ve probably followed Chris Guillebeau for a couple of years now. The guy isn’t a therapist or a doctor that can prescribe new medication to help me with bipolar depression; however, he is an integral part of allowing me to see that there is possibility outside the walls of a cubicle and away from a headset. I couldn’t not make the time to get out into Toronto and meet him.  The stop also allowed me to get some more event photography under my belt….

Before the actual talk and book signing, I met up with my first year university roommate – Jeremy! The connection had been found via Flickr and Twitter about 10 years or so after meeting him. We tried to get some people together for a short photowalk downtown Toronto but the others couldn’t make it.   I’m still trying to piece together what the universe is sending me these days.  I am certain it (the universe) is up to something.

I mention Jeremy because he asked about the author that we had come to see.  I’ve never really explained Chris Guillebeau to anyone so as I was saying things out loud, I became even more fascinated.  Chris is living a remarkable life – entrepreneur, business mogul, blogger, author, banana grabber, ect.   His book tour was 100% self-funded and consisted of stops in all 51 states in the US and 10 provinces in Canada.

You don’t have to live your life the way other people expect you to. – Chris Guillebeau

Photography and photographs are the proof that my depression has given me the passion to find the good in life and the world; To look at every moment, every subject, every object with the ability to help tell a story. The story is sometimes for a person, a small business, a building, or an entire idea. I look at my photography as a way to help make client ideas happen and come to life. Scott is the owner and blogger of a number of websites that are photography focused and run under the business name Embryo.
